the otaku side of me

similarities | January 24, 2011

Watching Love Generation this weekend made me notice 2 things. Buzzer Beat and Love Generation have 2 common things. The story revolves around a billboard. Yes, a billboard.

For Buzzer Beat, it was this:

And for Love Generation, this:

Love indeed is a beautiful thing.

Oh, the 2nd thing is just my wishful thinking. I’m kinda hoping that YamaPi will inherit the title of Dorama King. Hehehe

  1. Speaking of similarities, you’ll find that Buzzer Beat has more references to Long Vacation than it does to Love Generation (although yes, that omnipresent billboard+slogan was the most striking Buzzer Beat – LoveGen allusion/homage/ripoff xD )

In case you’re curious, here’s a blog post listing the frame-by-frame similarities between BB and LV:

    • I checked the link and I’m making it one of the blogs I think I’ll subscribe to. Thanks for that link.

I think I have to make to watch Long Vacation. It was shown on a local channel some years back and I remember getting intrigued but never got the time to actually watch it.

      • You’re more than welcome, glad you liked the link. 😉 jicks of Candy.Me is one of my favorite bloggers (and a really good cyber-friend, too) because her posts never fail to entertain and enlighten. We actually “discovered” each other through a mutual love for Kimura — not a bad way to find friends on the Web, I tell ya! 😛

You’ve probably heard a lot of praise for Long Vacation (it’s jicks’ fave Jdrama) and all of it is valid, so I’m pretty sure you won’t come away disappointed when you watch this classic ren’ai. And while I consider LoveGen to be more flawed than Long Vacation, it’s the KimuMatsu tandem in LoveGen (TeppeixRiko 4vr!!! OMGOMGOMGOMG) that hit me harder and deeper than the Kimura-Yamaguchi Tomoko pairing in LV. Anyway, you’ll get to see and decide for yourself. Happy viewing! (Btw if you liked the Cagnet songs in LoveGen, then you’ll LOVE the LV soundtrack as well ^^;;)
